Beware of ransomware, firm warns

Smaller companies should back up their data if they want to avoid being held to ransom by hackers, a security company has warned. Hackers are using sophisticated ransomware, which is malicious code, to hijack a company's user files, encrypt them and then demand payment in exchange for the decryption key, Kaspersky Labs said on Monday. The security specialist said that the encryption algorithms used by cybercriminals are becoming increasingly complicated, foxing antivirus companies. ....

Fake version of Google hides Trojan

From ComputerWorld: "Bot-herders have set up an exact copy of the download page for Google’s Toolbar plug-in in an attempt to lure users to download a Trojan back door. Reported by security outfit Surfcontrol, some versions of the scam even spoof the correct Google Toolbar Web address for Internet Explorer, using Google’s own redirection service in an attempt to hide the real, non-Google address. The Trojan itself -- W32.Ranky.FW -- is designed to turn the PC into a bot zombie, and is spread using the conventional technique of asking recipients of a spam email to follow an embedded link. .....

Skype's been cracked?

Earlier this week, a gentleman named Charlie Paglee received a Skype call from a colleague in China -- nothing out of the ordinary, except for the fact that this particular call was coming from an unofficial, homemade Skype client. Paglee, who cofounded the VoIP startup Vozin Communications, claims that the Chinese friend he spoke with is part of a team that has successfully reverse-engineered the Skype protocol, possibly paving the way for a series of third-party clients that would delight consumers but provide no small amount of frustration to Skype-owner eBay.

Grain Size Wi-Fi Storage Chip

HP has developed grain size chip which has memory to store 512KB, modem to transmit & receive using Wi-Fi and a microprocessor

The tiny chip was small enough to embed in almost any object, said HP.

The chip could be used to ensure drugs have not been counterfeited, on patient wristbands in hospitals or to add sounds or video to postcards, said HP.

No battery is needed because devices reading data from the chip will provide power by induction.

its least two years away from being a finished product.

PC Viruses is 20 years old

In the first half of the 1980s, computer viruses -- programs that reproduce themselves by "infecting" other programs -- existed mostly in labs. A few had managed to find their way into the wild on the Apple II platform, but for the most part they were tightly controlled by computer researchers.

And then came Brain. Discovered in the first weeks of 1986, it was the first PC virus to widely circulate in the wild. Distributed via 5.25-inch floppy diskettes, Brain's spread was extremely slow by today's standards -- but it unleashed a tide of ever-more harmful viruses, worms, and other malware that we're still struggling with 20 years later. Divine Soul

Jai Shri Krishna

When God created this world, everyone had needs they wanted fulfilled. Everyone needs something or the other; longevity, wealth, money. God called everyone and gave the assurance that each one will get what he or she needs. God is very large hearted; He gave everyone whatever they asked for. But while giving away these things, one object fell down. God immediately covered it up with his feet. No one noticed that God had hidden something under his feet.

Goddess Lakshmiji was pleased to see God fulfilling everyone's needs. She also observed that God had hidden one object under his feet. When everyone went away she said, "Today I have seen your large heartedness; and I have also seen your deceit and miserliness. I saw that you hid something under your feet. What is it? Show it to me."

Hearing this God smiled and said, "It is that for which everyone will have to come to me. If I would have given away everything then man would have been left with no reason to come to me.

" Lakshmiji said: "But what is it? At least tell me!"

God lifted his feet up. That object was peace.

God said:" Look! In order to get peace man will have to come to me."

It is for this very reason that even when man has everything given to him by God; he has to seek refuge at the feet of God in order to attain peace.

Hence in spite of having everything people often complain saying we do not have peace. God has hidden this peace under his feet. 'Surrender' is the core of Gita's teachings. Concluding the Gita, God has said,

"Sarvadharmaanparityajya maamekam sharanam vraja,

Aham tvaa sarva paapebhyo mokshayishyami maa shuchah.

i.e. Renouncing all your dharmas (of the body, mind and soul) take refuge in Me alone. I will liberate you from all sins; grieve not.

With Blessings,

Bhaishri
